Purpose & Function
The driver positions will function mainly as an outside-the-facility working person(s) in the shipping department. They will perform all of the work associated with driving orders to and from customer sites in the local Massachusetts/New England area. They will also perform daily inspections of the vehicle they drive and also perform some light repairs as needed. Lastly they will perform steps necessary to secure all materials in the vehicle they will be driving that day. In order to be successful this person will work according to all identified quality, health, safety and environmental policies established at CHT according to this position on the HSEQ training matrix.
Duties & Responsibilities
The driver will perform the following duties routinely, efficiently and effectively to successfully help achieve the high quality of product and service at CHT.
- Transport materials safely and efficiently over the public roads and ways to and from customer or vendor sites.
- Represents and reinforces the company image publically by acts and appearance.
- Ensure that materials are secured and inventoried properly before transport.
- Completes all D.O.T. required logbook work at all times
- Maintains a valid Massachusetts Class B drivers license
- Completes all regular OSHA and DOT certification training in a timely manner.
- May perform other various facility duties specific to the facilities needs as required by management such as cleaning of vehicle, simple routine maintenance or administrative duties as they occur or when needed to temporarily replace other employees.
Qualifications
All employees considered for this position must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for this work:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- English proficient for document/sign reading and oral communication with associates
- Drug/Alcohol addiction free
- Holds active Interstate CDL license and able to pass CDL Medical exam every 2 years or as required.
- Preferable experience in manufacturing environment with Powered Industrial Trucks.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs in day to day situational work.
- Ability to stay sedentary seated for the majority of the work day driving.
Working Conditions
Indoor or ideal sedentary driving conditions prevail for this position with only slight exposure to outdoor conditions during some offload/on-load times.
