CDL Driver

This is a full-time, on-site position for a Driver at the John Nagle Co. located in Boston, MA.

In this role, the Driver is responsible for transporting seafood products safely and efficiently between suppliers, airports, and retail locations; picking up and delivering inventory; and ensuring proper handling, documentation, and customer service throughout the delivery process.The position plays an important part in maintaining timely deliveries, and high-quality customer service, ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, and committed to delivering excellent customer service. They must have a clean driving record, experience handling perishable goods, strong attention to detail for documentation and inventory management, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while meeting tight delivery schedules.

Responsibilities:

  • Transport seafood products safely and efficiently between suppliers, airports, and retail locations.

  • Pick up products from vendors, warehouses, and airport cargo facilities.

  • Load, secure, and unload perishable seafood products, maintaining proper handling and temperature control.

  • Collect, verify, and complete delivery documentation (invoices, bills of lading, logs) using tablets, handhelds, or other devices.

  • Follow assigned routes, maps, and schedules while adapting to traffic, weather, or delivery changes.

  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, or safety violations promptly.

  • Maintain compliance with company policies and all applicable DOT, OSHA, and safety regulations.

  • Deliver excellent customer service while interacting with vendors, airport personnel, and store staff.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License with a clean driving record and no recent violations.

  • Proven experience as a commercial truck driver in delivery, product pickup, or cargo transport.

  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, truck safety procedures, and commercial driving laws.

  • Ability to plan and follow routes, read maps, road signs, and apply good judgment in unexpected situations.

  • Experience handling perishable products safely and efficiently.

  • Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and conditions, including traffic, weather, and airport operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50–100 lbs regularly.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb in the course of loading/unloading and entering/exiting trucks.

  • Comfortable working in cold/refrigerated environments while handling seafood.

  • Ability to sit and maintain focus for long periods while driving.

  • Ability to operate lift gates, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.

  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions during deliveries.

  • Ability to use electronic devices for delivery documentation and communication.

Reporting to: Logistics Supervisor

Starting Pay Range: $22 - $26/hour DOE (CDL); $17 - $21/hour DOE (non-CDL)
