TRUCK DRIVER CLASS A

Position Summary

Walsh Mechanical Contractors is a full service commercial mechanical contractor that prides its reputation on high quality, professionalism, and innovation. We are seeking a Truck Driver to join our team.  The Truck Driver will be responsible for loading trucks and daily delivery of HVAC materials and equipment to local jobsites. The position requires a CDL Class A License, a clean driving record, and a valid DOT Medical Exam.  The position is 50% driving and 50% filling orders and loading trucks with some light truck repairs.

Responsibilities

·         Maintain current appropriate licenses and DOT medical card.

·         Loading materials and equipment onto delivery trucks.

·         Securing load for proper transportation.

·         Pre-trip safety inspection of truck.

·         Safe navigation of roadways, following all state and DOT laws and driving regulations.

·         Adhere to building and city rules for parking and unloading.

·         Communication with dock masters & field foremen upon arrival at destination.

·         Assisting with unloading at jobsite.

·         Other duties as assigned by Logistics Manager.

The right candidate will have:

·         The driving side requires interaction with dock masters and our field foremen, so an upbeat, outgoing friendly attitude is essential.

·         The loading shop and material handling side requires organizational and communication skills, the ability to work independently as well as follow direction.

·         Candidate must have mechanical ability, knowledge of Boston and metro area, and physical strength to lift 50lbs or more on a regular basis.

·         Knowledge or experience in the sheet metal and/or pipefitting field is a plus.

·         Due to the early and changing start times, applicants residing on the South Shore is preferred.

·         Forklift license/experience and OSHA training a plus.

·         Candidates will be subject to background screening and drug testing.

Work Environment

·         Position is 40 hours a week with possible overtime. Early start times and nights or weekends required as needed.
