CDL Class A Drivers Wanted - Norwood, MA - Open to Recent Graduates!

The Driver is responsible for the safe operation of Company vehicles in the movement of Home Market Foods' material. As a key member of the Logistics and Transportation department, the Driver will have the opportunity to provide their expertise to a dynamic and growing organization.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

There will be occasional Wednesdays and Saturdays that will be paid at the overtime rate, and they will be given notice if they need to work.

These roles are permanent, and we provide medical, dental, life insurance, 401K, vacation, holidays, etc.

A few things that are good to know are:

  • There are no customer deliveries, it is just between our plant in Norwood and our warehouse in Norton so driving is in MA only.
  • No loading or unloading of items.
  • CDL license is required, and we are OK with someone who is a recent graduate.
  • Some Saturdays may be required, but maybe only once per month and there will be plenty of notice given.
  • Any time over 40 hours is time and half.
  • They will be driving an 18-wheeler that weighs 80,000 pounds.
  • Trailers are 53 ft trailers.
  • These are Reefers – Frozen Trucks since we transport frozen meats.
  • We do a yearly check on people’s licenses.
  • We do require people have medical insurance, we offer medical insurance too, and will ask them to show their medical card.
  • We have two shifts available that are listed below. We will have a training period that can last anywhere from 2-6 weeks and will have people driving with different drivers from our organization who have different styles. During the training period, people need to be flexible with their hours. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the proper operations of Company vehicles - semi-trailer units
  • Timely delivery of product to the customer
  • Accurate maintenance of delivery records
  • Proper maintenance of government and Company logs within time limits
  • Assist with the inspection of material to be shipped for leaks and non-conformity
  • Proper application of Company and USDA regulations as they apply to storage and shipment of product
  • Assist with carrying out all safety regulations
  • Maintain through conduct, appearance and attitude a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Assist other drivers where needed
  • Other duties assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Class "A" CDL Driver's License required
  • DOT medical regulation card
  • Proficient in English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The below physical demands are representative of those that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Able to bend, reach, carry and lift up to 75 pounds without difficulty on a continuous basis
  • Possesses good vision
  • Must have good vision and manual dexterity.
