Job Description:
Sterling Concrete is accepting applications for full-time/part-time CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) drivers with a clean driving record. We provide free training for operation of a Ready-Mix Concrete Truck.
A concrete Mixer Truck is actually 2 machines in one. The truck itself supports the mixer, which carries mixes, and discharges the concrete on the jobsite.
The mixer has separate controls aside from the truck, and the 2 need to be operated in unison.
The truck spends much of its day off-road, so drivers are trained to operate in muddy, sandy, and not so favorable conditions. Trucks are required to approach excavation holes without getting stuck or tipping over.
Drivers are trained on basic knowledge of Concrete 101, which is a course on fundamentals of concrete taught at Sterling.
Our Concrete mixers are a standard design, which means whether new or old, all trucks are laid out in a similar way. This makes it easier if you need to drive a different truck for the day. All of our trucks are automatic transmission with A/C and GPS mapping.
Driving and operating a mixer truck is a physical activity. You will be required to climb up and down the truck to wash down concrete residue and keep the overall appearance of the truck in good standing. There is also moderate lifting of chutes and walking on uneven ground while carrying one.
A class B CDL is required to operate a concrete mixer. Sterling Concrete requires a check of your driving record and a DOT Physical. As per DOT regulations, all CDL drivers are subject to random drug and alcohol tests.
Class A drivers are welcome, as we also own and operate a trailer dump, although the primary driving job is at sterling in the mixer truck.

Our wages are competitive within the industry. Time and a half is paid after 8 hours daily and Saturdays.
We have 2 locations, North Oxford ma and Sterling Ma and we try to place people in the location that makes the most sense for their commute to work.
Finally, our drivers are the face of our company. They interact directly with our customers and need to have the ability to listen, follow directions and operate in a safe manner. If you are looking for something beyond a freight/ over the road job, ready- mix concrete might be the answer.
