HAZMAT Endorsement a plus but not mandatory for immediate hire; Eagle Air Frieght will pay for driver to get their HAZMAT endorsement.

Starting pay: $24-$25/hr. Overtime pay and flexible hours.

Shift options that need coverage: 9am – 5pm, 10am – 6pm, 12/1pm -close.

Local driving - Drivers are guaranteed to be home each night

Local, regional, and over-the-road postitions available. Eagle Air Frieght offers local pickup and delivery around MA, NH, and RI. Drivers perform airport transfer services. Eagle Air Freight has a fleet of temperature control units, flatbeds, and low boy trailers.  

Job Description

As a Professional Driver, you are responsible for your vehicle and load at all times including safety, security, DOT, TSA, etc.  As a CDL holder you are responsible to comply with all DOT regulations in CFR 49.

Although it is not possible to list every detail of the job for CDL driver at Eagle Air Freight, here is a brief outline of your daily responsibilities. This may change due to business or workload variations.  Please see Fred Jennings with any questions

Responsibilities include:

  •  Reach out to dispatch each day and find out start time for next day.  Starting times may change due to business increase, decrease, vacation coverage, etc., it is your responsibility to know starting time for next day.
  • Arrive to work on time with work boots, CDL, Medical card, uniform and ready to work.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude with all customers and employees, assisting when necessary.
  • Parking personal vehicle in employee parking area.
  • Maintain Valid CDL with Haz and valid Medical card at all times.
  • Must have knowledge of and comply with all CDL Driver requirements according to CFR 49.
      • Ensure that all freight is loaded to ride in a safe and secure fashion using according to CFR 49 regulations, using loading tools i.e. load bars, straps, skids, shrink wrap etc.
      • Must ensure that you have equipment in possession prior to leaving the terminal each day so that you are able to load/secure any cargo during the work day.
  • Safe inspection, operation & DVIR of vehicle at all times, report any vehicle problems to dispatch immediately in addition to writing on your DVIR.
  • Responsible to ensure that cargo is loaded properly and safe to ride before putting truck into motion.
  •   Securing load (including hand jack & tools) against movement in any direction using straps, load bars, tape/wrap, breaking cargo down to ride.
  •   Must ensure that cargo door remains locked at all times.
  •   Knowledge of truck/trailer parking areas in Eagle Yard and Container Yard.  Must ensure that loads are secure/not exposed when dropping.  Report to dispatch if not possible or if other trailer needs to be moved, report that to dispatch as well.
  •    Must comply with DOT hours of service regulations, maintain accurate & compliant log book/daily manifest/ electronic log, etc.  Falsifying logs will not be tolerated.

o    Local Drivers: required to take a lunch break between your 4th and 5th our, as you approach this time, please reach out to your dispatcher to find out the best time during the shift to make this happen.  Must list on productivity manifest/E-log to remain DOT complaint.

o    Line-Haul: required to take break per DOT Guidelines & list on Log / E-Log

  • TSA Compliance: Maintain Haz Endorsement, Vehicle locking cab & cargo area, Chain of Custody procedures, etc. Must receive signed copy of Chain of Custody on any delivery of screened freight.
  • Responsible for effective communication:  Must contact dispatch if tied up or idle for 10 minutes at any point: pick up, delivery, waiting in Eagle Yard, etc.  It is your responsibility as a driver to reach out to dispatch if waiting.
  •  Ensure accurate proof of delivery on each and every transaction: 

o   Deliveries:

  • Your name
  •   Date & time
  •  Number of pieces (circled)
  • Consignee Signature and printed name (legible)
  •    4-way pallets delivered, received, shipper built.
  •    Any damages or shortages
  •  You must notify dispatch immediately if any damages, shortages, etc.

o    Pick-ups:

  •    Your name
  •    Number of pieces (circled)
  •   Date and time
  •   Any damages or shortages.
  • You must notify dispatch immediately if any changes in piece count, damages, etc.
  • You must receive a Shortage/damage report on appropriate documentation.
  • Load any HAZMAT as the last position on the trailer whenever you are able.
  •  Keep all equipment neat clean and free of debris.
  •  Be aware that due to the nature of our business that shifts are subject to change on a daily basis. On average, a typical shift is between 8-12 hours, you may be required to work beyond your scheduled shift. If you are unable to work for any reason you are required to notify your manager at the beginning of your shift.
  •   All requests for vacation or personal leave are required to be made in writing utilizing the appropriate form, please see your dispatcher as needed.
