Sunrise Erectors, Inc. is a family owned and operated construction business that specializes in the furnishing and installation of fully engineered architectural exterior wall systems throughout New England.  Our extensive, cutting-edge fabrication shop works with everything from single skin profile panels to insulated metal panels, as well as louvers, curtain wall, and storefront systems.

Position Summary:

Sunrise Erectors is looking for a skilled Job Site Delivery Driver to join our team. This position reports to our Plant Manager, and plays a vital role in keeping our fabrication shop-to-job site business model, so we are looking for someone with demonstrated knowledge and skills in operating delivery trucks of all sizes (box truck, cargo van, flat bed pickups, tractor, etc). 

The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is cautious and observant while at the controls; they are comfortable operating a vehicle in tight spaces as well as transporting awkward, heavy, or over-sized freight; and, they know and follow safety procedures and best practices. 

This is a union position with a very competitive salary and benefits structure.  Starting rates are commensurate to experience.

Must be able to drive a standard transmission

 

Responsibilities:

•         Transport fabricated items and raw materials from in-house fabrication shop to area job sites;

•         Perform daily inspection of vehicles for mechanical and safety issues, and fill out corresponding Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports;

•         Coordinate delivery schedules with Shipping & Receiving Manager;

•         Plan routes to maximize efficiency;

•         Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions;

•         Navigate construction job sites and adhere to all job site rules and regulations;

•         Operate all Sunrise Erectors vehicles in a safe and respectful manner;

•         Assist in loading and off-loading trucks as required;

•         Coordinate deliveries and on off-loading with field foremen;

•         Maintain cleanly conditions in all company vehicles;

Requirements:

·         High School Diploma/GED or higher;

·         Ability to drive long hours (8-hour shift, some overtime necessary);

·         Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather, etc.);

·         Clean driving record with no recent moving or driving violations;

·         Valid CDL – Class A required

·         Experience transporting heavy cargo, awkward items, fragile and/or expensive items.

·         Ability to manage time effectively and coordinate tasks and duties with others.

·         Ability to lift at least 100lbs and to repeatedly perform activities involving bending, twisting, lifting and pulling of building components, including glass.

·         Experience with forklifts, rough terrain lulls/forklifts and front-end loaders a plus but not required;

·         Willingness to attend certification and training courses provided by Sunrise Erectors (occasional weeknights or weekends may be required).
