The Mount Ida College Athletic Department is seeking a cooperative and respectful team player for the position of Athletics Bus Driver to be responsible for transporting athletes to and from away contests in a safe and efficient manner. This is a part-time, academic year position working up to 15 hours per week for 35 weeks per year.
Specific responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Safely transporting student-athletes, coaching staff and teams to athletic events in a 25 passenger vehicle or similar type vehicle.
- Assisting teams with loading and unloading of athletic equipment.
- Ensuring that all passengers including student athletes and coaches adhere to all passenger safety guidelines and expectations while the vehicle is in operation.
- Operating vehicle in a safe manner and taking all precautions necessary to ensure the safety of passengers. Exhibiting sound judgment and following safe driving standards.
- Completing pre-trip vehicle inspections as required by law.
- Maintaining travel records and logs as necessary. Recording passenger counts and trip times.
- Ensuring vehicle cleanliness and maintenance. Removing trash and debris from vehicle.
- Will be subject to annual motor vehicle records checks and random drug testing.
Requirements for the position include the following: high school diploma or equivalent and previous experience operating large passenger vehicles; familiarity with northeast metro areas including Boston, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont and Connecticut; safe driving record, valid driver’s license, and CDL with passenger’s license; must be able to satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check, criminal background check and pre-employment drug test; knowledge and understanding of all motor vehicle laws and safe driver guidelines; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
